Any student enrolled in the Allegan Public Schools who may have been identified as having one or more handicaps may receive special educational service in specialized rooms, schools, or centers.

The decision to place a child in any specialized program is made by the Individualized Educational Planning Team (IEPT) consisting of parents, students, teachers, instructional assistants, administrators, and ancillary staff members.

Allegan Public Schools in collaboration with Allegan County ISD offers a full continuum of program options for students with any disabilities. Allegan Public Schools houses the Allegan County Hearing Impaired Program which has been recognized throughout the state.  The district, honoring the idea of early intervention, has been able to maintain our special needs population below the state average in total numbers being served.
