To ensure high levels of learning for all students, we believe we must be abundantly clear on what we expect all students to learn.  To this end, Allegan Public Schools provides a balanced, comprehensive, standards-aligned core curriculum to all students.  

To successfully implement our mission to maximize every student's academic potential, our faculty works as professional learning communities (PLC) to clearly define the essential standards/outcomes for every course taught at Allegan Public Schools in a Response to Intervention (RtI) model.  When selecting essential learning outcomes, decisions are based upon Dr. Douglas Reeve's research on learning leverage and endurance, as well as state content standards and frameworks, vertical curricular guides and materials provided by MAISA curriculum maps, and student assessment data.  These student learning outcomes are compiled into Digital Notebooks for teachers which include Essential Standard charts, examples of rigor, and common assessments.
